The blistering heat that raditates from the volcano that the Elemental Lord of Fire, Ifrit, has made his home gives this vast desert its name. On its own, the Smoldering Sands is the largest area known within Drachell. It is home to the Tigeress Clan, who has set up a nice resort on the shoreline near Chenzira and have a hidden village elsewhere.
Drachell - The Smoldering Sands
The infamous Tigeress resort has gathered people from all over the province to come and relax. Home to a night club, a pub, a nice beach and several merchants, this is the most bustling settlement on a regular basis. The Tigeress that operate this resort are those who have broken away from their assassin sisters to live the casual life of worshiping Elemental Lord Ifrit and operating the resort.
Oasis of Champions
A small island truly only accessible from Crescent Mountain, was created by the Elemental Lord of Light as the resting place for one of his old champion's weapons. However, this area is off limits and inaccessible to anyone but Lord Hyperion himself. It is rumored that there are powerful monsters within as a contingency for those who like to wander and explore.
Found within the large, unpassable mountain range, on the Northern side of the Smoldering Sands, this tower was build and is maintained by the Tigeress Acolytes. The Acolytes are a rare sub-species of the Tigeress that are more feline than the other Tigeress and are bound to the tower, forbidden to leave unless to traverse the Void Walk. These Acolytes are strictly meant to maintain and cater to Demon Lord Crixilus who makes himself at home within the tower. The Acolytes maintain an open portal to the Doomvoid Realm so that Crixilus can pass to and from easily. Demon Lord Crixilus must be within the Mortal Realm so that his followers, the Tigeress of the tower and of the nearby Village, remain blessed with the power of the Doomvoid, giving them superhuman strength and speed.
This massive desert is the single most expansive area within Drachell, rivaled only by the portion of Abardean now trapped within the Fay Barrier caused by the Cleansing Ritual. This desert, to make matters worse for those who wish to travel, house the lava streams that run off from the nearby volcano, which is in a constant state of flux. This desert is presumably the home of the Desert Walker Shaman Clan who are said to be the original worshipers of Elemental Lord Ifrit. They are a nomadic clan which haven't really been seen by anyone in several decades. Many believe that the brutal conditions within the desert have caused the clan to die out. Anyone wishing to travel from the Tigeress Resort, Crix-Cilus, through the desert is advised to pack a lot of water before setting out to prevent dehydration.
This area, at least within the Mortal Realm, has been twisted to the point of impassability during the Warring Age. After having made their tower there, the Tigeress Acolytes decided something needed to be done so that they may reach their village again. Seeking out the assistance of their maker, Demon Lord Crixilus, they were able to permanently swap out the impassable mess of mountains and rapid waters of the Mortal Realm with the winding pathways of the Doomvoid Realm. Now, this small area between the Village Crixi and the Tigeress Tower is permanently an eye-sore to anyone traveling by airship. This area, remains entirely Doomvoid by nature, acting as as a sort of 'hub' for going in between the realms. Perhaps it isn't best to try and travel through too much of the Doomvoid Realm as of yet.
The Void Walk
Deep within the volcanic mountains North of the Crix-Cilus Mountain range rests Ifrit's Domain. Here is where he sits and enjoys his time and any worshipers that wish to make a pilgrimage to him. However, due to the nature of the Smoldering Sands and Crix-Cilus resort, not many Tigeress actually make the trip up there. With that said, there are bound to be some form of creatures roaming about that are... hungry.
In the deepest corner of Drachell's South East rests a small village filled with Tigeress assassins in training to carryout Demon Lord Crixilus' will. Aftering passing through the Crix-Cilus mountains, the village is still hidden on the other side of a dense jungle, making it good natural cover for the happenings within the village. With that said, no one, not even the Empire, as of yet, has dared travel into such a questionable area. The Tigeress of Crixilus aren't known for their hospitality with outsiders.
The Crix-Cilus Mountains divide the Smoldering Sands area in half, seperating the massive Desert and Resort from the dense jungle and Void Walk around VIllage Crixi. These mountains are made up like a fortress, in some sense, by the Crixilus Tigeress. Furthermore, within the mountain range is a massive Pyramid, which the Tigeress have claimed as their own and have been working within for over a hundred years, trying to discern the strange devices and writings found within. What mysteries could this pyramid hold and what they could mean for Valcarta?
